M: May I help you?

W: Yes, I’ll have two hamburgers and a cup of 7 Up.

M: Would you like to order something else?[

W: No, thanks.

Text 2:

M: That’s my watch alarm. I have an appointment at the hotel at eleven o’clock.

W: Is it eleven now?

M: No, no. Actually, it’s 10:30. I set my watch ahead by half an hour.

Text 3:

W: Do you think it’s a good way to learn English by watching English films?

M: Well, maybe it’s useful for some people. But I find they speak too fast to follow.

W: It seems that I’m not alone.

Text 4:

W: Your jacket is quite beautiful in color, isn’t it?

M: Yes. And I bought it for half price at a sale. It cost me only $ 12.

W: Wow, that’s cheap.

Text 5:

W: I really hate it when people smoke around me!

M: So do I!I can’t understand why people smoke. It’s said that smoking cigarettes costs billions of dollars every year.

W: The goodnews is that measures will be taken to forbid people from smoking cigarettes in public places.[來Text 6:

W: Hello?

M: Hi, Sarah. This is Allan. I’m calling from Australia.

W: What are you doing in Australia, Allan?

M: I’m attending a conference with our friends in Sydney this week. Remember?

W: Oh, right. What time is it there?

M: It’s 10:00 p.m. And it’s 8 o’clock in the morning in Los Angeles, right?

Text 7:

W: Where is the knife?

M: I think I put it in the cupboard after I used it.

W: But I can’t find it.

M: Look for it inside the fridge. Maybe I put it there with some food. By the way, what are we having tonight?

W: Something healthy, like tomatoes, cabbages and rice and so on.

M: Is she? I didn’t notice that.

W: Henry, watch out. She never gives up until she gets what she wants.

M: I’m not interested in Bess at all.

W: Then you’re the only one. Every guy I know thinks she is a beauty.

M: I don’t like women who behave as if they were God to men.

W: But she’s going in the direction of you.

M: Oh, Angie. I think I should leave this place.

W: Are you sure?

M: Yes. She is the kind of woman whom I don’t want to get along with.

Text 9:

M: I don’t know what I’m going to do if I lose my job.

W: Don’t worry. I don’t think you’re going to lose your job over one mistake.

M: It was a rather big mistake. When you work as an investment adviser, one small mistake can cost the company millions.

W: But it wasn’t just you who are involved, right? You were only doing what your boss told you to do.

M: That’s true, but my boss is dishonest. He said it was completely my fault.

W: Let’s think about what if that really happens.

M: I can live on my savings for about 3 months. But I really don’t want to live that kind of life.

W: Well, when is your contract on your apartment up?

M: Next month.

W: If you really lose your job, you needn’t rent that apartment. I think you can share a room with my brother for free until you find another job.

M: That’s very kind of you but I hope that won’t happen.

Hello, everyone. I have an announcement to make. As you know, we have more than thirty students from America, England, Canada and France visiting our school. In order to help them enjoy their time here, the Students’ Union has decided to organize a European music week. It will be held the last week of September. You can sing pop songs and play musical instruments, so don’t forget to bring along your musical instrument if you have any. There will also be an interesting music contest. During the competition, the visiting students will sing the first sentence of a song and you will be required to guess where the song comes from and what’s the name of the song. Please come to the Students’ Union office to sign up before September 15th if you want to take part in any of the activities. The music week will be held in the garden to the left of the library. I hope all of you will have a great time. That’s all!
