句型1 When I was a freshman , I got involved in school events.
當我還是大一新生的時候，我參加了學校的活動。
be a freshman是一個大學一年級學生。Freshman (大學一年級學生),sophomore (大學二年級學生), junior (大學三年級學生), senior (大學四年級學生)，在聽力中會頻繁出現。
get involved in 參與…大無論是作爲中心的主辦人，還是僅僅是參與不提及相關的程度，都可以使用這個表達。
When I was a junior, I got involved in a community cleaning project.
大三的時候，我參加了一個社區清潔項目。
When I was a junior , I got involved in a research project organized by my friend.
大三的時候，我參加了一個朋友組織的研究項目。
When I was a junior, I got involved in the internship program.
大三的時候，我參加了實習項目。
句型2 For example, I belong to the art club at college.
例如，我在大學的時候就加入了藝術俱樂部。
for example 比如。這是舉例最常用的表達，與for instance類似，動詞exemplify表示“以…爲例/說明”，舉例是論證觀點非常有力的論據，但是，要注意那個例子是否能很好地支持自己的觀點。
belong to 屬於… 相當於I am a member of …，都是表示自己的所屬的組織的表達。
For example, I belong to the chess club at college/university.
例如，我在大學裏參加了象棋俱樂部。
For example, I belong to the Jazz club at college/university.
例如，我在大學裏參加了爵士俱樂部。
For example, I belong to the community of foreign exchange students at college/university.
例如，我屬於學院/大學的交換生。

句型3 Three years ago , I participated in a big tournament.
三年前，我參加了一個大型錦標賽。
時間+ ago …之前使用表示過去的詞語時，動詞一定要用過去時態。
participate in 參加…與get involved in相比，participate in表示作爲完成本來的目的而參加，而沒有提及以怎樣的角色參加。
I got involved in a big tournament.不知道是主辦者，還是裁判員，還是競技者。
I participated in a big toumament.作爲比賽者參加了。
The other day, I participated in an English speech contest on global warming.
前幾天，我參加了一個關於全球變暖的英語演講比賽。
A few days ago, I participated in a workshop on yoga therapy.
