while的用法：作名詞用，表示“一會兒”“一段時間”likes to lie down for a while after lunch.
她喜歡午飯後躺一會兒.

四e,when,as的用法區別
都譯爲“當…的時候”,區別爲：when後的從句謂語動詞既可是延續性動詞,也可是短暫性動詞,而且還可作並列連詞,譯爲“這時”.但以下句型一定用when,作並列連詞：
句型A：was/were doing…when…正在…這時(發生另一事)
句型B：be about to do…when…正要做…這時(發生另一事)
句型C：had done…when…剛要做…這時(發生另一事)
were about to set out when it began to rain.
我們剛要出發天突然下雨了.
2.I was walking along the bank of the river when I fell into it.
我正沿河岸散步突然掉進水裏.
had hardly sat down when his mobile rang.
他剛一坐下手機就響了.
while後的從句謂語動詞只能是延續性動詞,強調主從句的兩個動詞同時發生;while也可作並列連詞,表示兩個動作的對比,譯爲“而”“然而”則表示兩個變化中的動作的同時性,譯爲“一邊…一邊…”.

(在一個延續動作過程中發生另一個動作)
