marry的用法
marry 既可用作及物動詞，也可用作不及物動詞，意爲“結婚、嫁、娶、與……結婚”等。常見用法如下：
一、be / get married (to sb.) 表示“與某人結婚”。如：
Kate was married to a doctor last month. 上個月凱特和一位醫生結了婚。
When did he get married? 他什麼時候結婚的?
He was married to my younger sister. 他同我妹妹結了婚。
Susan and Mike got married last year. 蘇珊和邁克去年結了婚。
Hanks and Nancy will soon get married. 漢克斯和南希快要結婚了。
She got married to a teacher. 她和一位教師結了婚。
二、marry sb. 表示“嫁給某人、與某人結婚”。如：
Mr White is going to marry an actress. 懷特先生將同一個女演員結婚。
George married a girl for her beauty. 喬治娶了一位姑娘，因爲她長得漂亮。
He wanted to marry Helen, but she married someone else. 他想娶海倫，但是她嫁給了別人。
Will you marry him? 你願意嫁給他嗎?
三、marry sb. to sb. 表示“(父母把女兒)嫁給某人”或“(父母爲兒子)娶媳婦”。如：
She married her daughter to a businessman. 她把女兒嫁給了一位商人。
She married her son to a rich woman. 她爲兒子娶了個有錢的女人。
四、marry用作不及物動詞時，往往用副詞或介詞短語來修飾。如：
His uncle didn't marry until forty. 他的叔叔直到40歲才結婚。
She married when she was twenty years old. 她20歲時結了婚。
She married early / late in life. 她結婚很早 / 很晚。
Marry in haste and repent at leisure. (諺語)草率結婚後悔多。
五、marry一般不與介詞with連用。如：
她和一位英國人結了婚。
【誤】 She married with an Englishman.
【正】 She married an Englishman.
【正】 She was / got married to an Englishman.
六、若問某人是否已結婚，而不涉及結婚對象，用be / get married的形式，相當於系表結構。如：
你結婚了嗎?
【誤】 Do you marry? / Have you married?
【正】 Are you married? / Have you got married?
【特別提示一】 在西方國家，一般不要問別人的婚姻狀況，這是個人隱私。因此最好不要隨便問“Are you married? / How many children do you have?”之類的問題。當不知女士是Miss還是Mrs時,請用Ms稱呼。
【特別提示二】 一個名叫Mary Smith的女士，婚前可稱之爲Miss Smith;嫁給Mr Brown後，她便改稱爲Mary Brown，也可稱之爲Mrs Brown。
