Last Man Standing歌手介紹1982年，他推出了自己的首張單曲“Runaway”，引起了人們的初步關注。
主唱Jon Bon Jovi 在Sayreville 高校的時候遇上了David Bryan(他當時還用原名David Rashbaum)，他們不久便加入了一個以R&B 爲主的樂團Atlantic City Expressway。當David Rashbaum 轉到紐約去攻讀一所音樂學校時，Jon Bon Jovi 也跟去，他便在一個和他有親戚關係所開的Power Station 錄音室裏做了一些打雜的工作二年，週薪僅五十美元，當時工作得相當辛苦，但Jon Bon Jovi 並不以打雜爲苦，因爲他每天在錄音室裏，可以見到許多知名的搖滾樂團進進出出，看到許多心中仰慕的樂手丰采，狂愛音樂的他並且暗自發誓，有朝一日，他一定要在搖滾樂界出人頭地。一直到Billy Squier 同意他去錄製Demo 的錄音帶，在完成創作之後，Jon Bon Jovi 便一家一家唱片公司親自遞送。很快的“Runway”這一首歌被紐約長島電臺DJ Chip Hobart 相中，主動和他聯繫，便在當地的電臺播放而且把他的“Runway”收錄到一張合輯中，雖然Jon Bon Jovi 的終極夢想是要出一張專輯，但他還是勉強同意成爲合輯中的一員。合輯一推出“Runway”立刻受到各電臺瘋狂點播，長島電臺進一步想邀請他做現場演出，但問題來了，他沒有自己的樂團!於是Jon Bon Jovi 號召了茱莉亞音樂學院畢業的友人David Rashbaum(後改名爲David Bryan)，Franke & The Knockouts 的鼓手Tico Torres 及Jercy 合唱團的貝斯手Alec John Such ，吉他手則央請鄰人客串，後來有一次表演結束，在其中一場表演結束時的後臺，Richie Sambora 主動找上Jon Bon Jovi ，並宣稱自己是最佳吉他手人選;雖然剛開始有點心存懷疑，但Jon Bon Jovi 還是被Richie Sambora 的自信和才華所感動。
