連詞是一種虛詞，用於連接單詞、短語、從句或句子，在句子中不單獨用作句子成分。連詞按其性質可分爲並列連詞和從屬連詞。

並列連詞主要是用來表示並列關係、轉折關係、選擇關係、因果推理關係等。並列連詞用來連接屬於同一層次並具有相同句法功能的詞，短語或句子。

表示並列關係：

表示並列關係的連詞主要含有“和”、“補充”、“增加”等意思：

and 和 both...and...二者都
either...or...或者······或者······ neither...nor...既不······也不······
as well as 也、連同 not only...but (also)... 不但······而且······

e.g. Both my brother and sister chose to eat pasta.

       Neither me nor him want to go to park.

       Jack and Cathy are couple.

表示轉折關係:

but 但是 yet 然而
still 仍然 while 然而、偏偏

e.g. Someone borrowed my pen, but I don’t remember who.

      I tried my best to persuade her, but she still sticked on her own idea.

表示選擇關係:

or 或者 or else 否則
otherwise 否則
neither...nor... 既不······也不······
either...or... 或者······或者······

e.g.Would you like to leave or would you like to stay?

     You can come either on Saturday or on Sunday.

表示因果推理關係:

so所以，for因爲，then然後，therefore因此

e.g.The air here is polluted, so the crops are dying.

     The leaves of the trees are falling, for it's already autumn.

綜上所述，可以看出雖然並列連詞叫並列連詞，但它表達的不僅僅是並列的含義，還能表示因果，轉折，選擇，內涵非常豐富，除了這些常見連詞外，其實還有很多更復雜更高級的連詞，大家不妨多背背，在關鍵時候一定會起大用處的。
