【原句】Let's give all the performers a big hand.
【解說】請大家注意：give someone a hand 與 give someone a big hand意思是不同的。前者表示在別人有困難時扶對方一把，即“助人一臂力”；後者是指“以熱烈的掌聲鼓勵某人”，是強烈讚賞對方的表現。
2. 對我個人來說，你怎麼做都可以。
【原句】As far as I'm concerned, you can do what you like.
【解說】"As far as … is concerned"意爲“對……來說；就……而言”，引出個人的觀點與看法，也可以說”So far as … is concerned”。
3. 我時間緊迫，要趕飛機。
【原句】I was pressed for time to catch my plane.
【解說】遇到時間非常緊迫的情況，該如何表達呢？我們可能會說“時間有限”，而老外常說，I'm pressed for time. 其中be pressed for time是固定搭配，意思是“時間緊迫”。另外，這句話也能表示“我的時間安排得很緊”。
4. 火災過後只有一星期，那商店又如往常一樣做生意了。
【原句】Only a week after the fire, it was business as usual in the store.
【解說】business as usual 一切如常，一切照舊。
5. 我們搞不清方向了。
【原句】We got mixed up in our directions.
【解說】get mixed up 混亂，混淆。另外get mixed up (in) 也表示“捲入某件事情”，這種事情通常有負面影響。
6. 我每天讀報紙已成爲一個慣例。
【原句】I make it a rule to read the newspaper every day.
【解說】make it a rule to do sth. 定爲常規，使做某事成爲習慣。
7. 我們哪天去滑雪好嗎？
【原句】Shall we go skiing one of these days?
【解說】one of these days 將來的某天，等於one day / some day。
