情景對話：
A: I heard eating out was expensive in the U.S. Is that true? 我聽說在美國出去吃飯很貴，是真的嗎？
B: Yeah, kind of because of the taxes and the tips. 對啊，這是因爲要加稅還有小費。
A: How does tipping work? We don't do it in China. 小費是怎麼回事？我們中國沒有這個。
B: People usually leave 15%, but now it might even be 20% of the bill. 大家通常會留你這頓飯消費的15%作爲小費，不過現在可能會留20%。
A: Wow, that's a lot. Do you have to leave that much? 哇這好多啊。你一定要留這麼多的嗎？
B: I think it's minimum otherwise, they'll think you're cheap. But one time I didn't leave a tip. 我覺得這是最起碼的，不然別人會覺得你很小氣。不過又一次我沒給小費。
Cheap 小氣
Why are you so cheap? The large is only 50 cents more. 你怎麼這麼小氣？大的也只是多加5毛。
Dirt cheap 非常便宜
Because of the sale, a smart TV is dirt cheap. 因爲在打折，一部智能電視非常便宜。
Something is a steal 非常便宜，跟搶來的一樣
I bought the house at an auction. It was a steal. 我拍賣買來的房子，簡直跟搶來一樣，太便宜了。
Cost next to nothing 跟不要錢一樣
The table costs next to nothing. 這桌子跟不要錢似的。
Good deal 還不錯，很便宜
It was a good deal. 還不錯，挺便宜的。
