首先我們需要了解四級寫作常考話題。近幾年來四級寫作常考話題主要爲兩類：校園類和社會類。校園話題含綠色校園、選修課、社團活動等;社會話題爲博物館、環境、娛樂活動等。
其次我們需要了解四級寫作高分標準：切題，表達思想清楚，文字通順、連貫，基本無語言錯誤。
對於四級寫作來說，語言需要放在第一位，四級寫作重點考查考生的英語表達能力。閱卷老師最重視的是語言，考生最需要提高的也是語言。有的同學以爲使用一些高難詞彙就能取得高分，其實不然。中英文寫作都講究“簡潔就是美”，語言的好壞不在詞藻的華麗與否，而在於使用得是否得當。當然基礎較好的同學，恰當使用高難詞彙有助於提高分數。但是不要盲目追求難度，與其寫一個錯誤的複雜句，不如寫一個正確的簡單句。
那麼我們如何增加語言的多樣性，提高寫作技巧呢?以下給大家分享幾條寫作高分技巧。
短語優先原則
使用短語，有兩個好處：一是用短語會使文章增加亮點，如果老師們看到你的文章有亮點精彩的短語，定會給高分了。二是關鍵時刻思維短路，只有湊字數，怎麼辦?用短語是一個辦法!比如：It is important to do.... 可以用短語表達：It is of vital importance to do...這樣字數明顯增加，表達也更準確。
固定表達原則
寫作一定要用一些常見的固定表達，增加文章的連續性和文采，使文章的結構更加緊湊。比如：there is no doubt that...(毫無疑問)，when it comes to...(當談到……)，it is universally acknowledged that....(衆所周知)，instead of“而不是”等。
邏輯原則
我們在進行公共演講或正式場合講話時一般都會條理清楚。考官們看文章也必然要通過這些關鍵性的“標籤”來判定你的文章是否結構清楚，條理自然。一般四級的作文爲議論文題材，在進行論述時，需要至少用2-3個論點支撐，那麼建議大家在論點前面最好用下面的詞來連接，使用時要按組選擇。
1)first, second, third, last
2)firstly, secondly, thirdly, finally
3)the first, the second, the third, the last
4)in the first place, in the second place, in the third place, lastly
5)to begin with, then, furthermore, finally
6)to start with, next, in addition, finally
7)first and foremost, besides, last but not least
8)most important of all, moreover, finally
9)on the one hand, on the other hand
10)for one thing, for another thing
使用連詞原則
1)並列。前後的句子屬於先後關係或者並列關係時，建議用並列連詞連接兩句話。比如說：I enjoy music and I sing a song every day. 我們可以用一個超級句式：Not only do I enjoy music but also I sing a song every day. 其它的短語可以用：besides, furthermore, likewise, moreover等。
2)轉折。比如The car was quite old, yet it was in excellent condition. Despite the fact that she is not rich，she studies quite hard.更多的短語：still, however, nevertheless, in spite of, despite, notwithstanding
3)因果。比如The class is over，so we go home. 更多短語：then, therefore, consequently, accordingly, hence, as a result, for this reason, so that
4)主從句。寫作中一定要有從句，常見的從句有狀語從句，定語從句，賓語從句，表語從句，主語從句等，定語從句最好寫，比如：Through attending college, they can learn to be self-independent as well as cooperative with others, which does good to their individual development.
