1.掉尾句
中心意思出現在句尾的句子，在修辭上叫做掉尾句(The Periodic Sentence)或圓周句。這種句子的結構一般比中心意思出現在句首、修飾語出現在句尾的結構效果更好。修飾語可以是詞組(如介詞詞組或分詞詞組)，狀語從句(如時間、地點、條件、原因及讓步狀語從句)，也可以是其他結構(如不完全結構等)。例如:

2.長短句
(1)長句((Long Sentence)。一般來說，並列句和主從複合句結構複雜。多半是長句。長句可以將比較複雜的邏輯思維表達得更加清楚。例如:

3.四種句子結構
(1)簡單句(The Simple Sentence)。簡單句是隻包含一個主謂語結構的句子。例如:
1)She used to get up early in the morning.

(2)並}IJ句(The Compound Sentence)。並列句是用並列連詞(and, but. or, so. yet.nor. neither. for)或標點符號.將兩個或兩個以上結構完整、意義密切相關的簡單句連接起來組成的句子。例如:
1)I enjoy playing tennis。but I hate playing golf.
2)I must work hard，or I’11 fail the exam.

(3)複合句(The Complex Sentence)。一個含有從句和主句的句子便是複合句。主句部分常常是一句話的中心，是被強調的部分。從句部分由從屬連詞引導.從句依附於主句.是對主句意義的解釋、補充和限定。例如:
1)Please tell me where the station is.
2)Because the cost of education is rising。many students have to work part-time.
3)When Tom lost his temper，he also lost his job.
(4)並列複合句(The Compound-complex Sentence)。含有兩個(或更多)的單句和一個
(或更多從句)的句子稱爲並列複合句。它是結構複雜的句子.由多個分句和從句組成，既有並列關係，又有從屬關係。此類句子適用於表達較爲複雜的思想。例如:
1)Many students drive their cars to the college。but others prefer to take public
transportation because free parking near the campus is unavailable.
2)If you review your notes and textbooks regularly，the material will become moremeaningful and you will remember it longer.
3)My arms are sore and my feet are swollen when the day is over.
