魯國有個人長得非常難看.
One day his father met Shang Duo who was noted fro being handsome on road. When he came back home, he said to his neighbor, “Today I met Shang Duo, he is handsome, but cam pared with my son, he is not as handsome as my son is.”
他的父親在外面遇見以漂亮著稱的商咄，回到家後居然對鄰居說：“我今天遇見商咄，他雖然漂亮，但和我兒子一比，就差遠了。還是我的兒子長得好。”

Father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarrelling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion; and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the faggot into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They each tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it.
He next unclosed the faggot, and took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into their hands, on which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words： “My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks.”
一位父親有幾個孩子，這些孩子時常發生口角。他絲毫沒有辦法來勸阻他們，只好讓他們看看不合羣所帶來害處的例子。爲了達到這個目的，有一天他叫他們替他拿一捆細柴來。當他們把柴帶來時，他便先後地將那捆柴放在每一個孩子的手中，吩咐他們弄斷這捆柴。他們一個個盡力去試，總是不能成功。
然後他解開那捆柴，一根根地放在他們手裏，如此一來，他們便毫不費力地折斷了。於是他就告訴他們說：“孩子們!如果你們大家團結一致，互相幫助，你們就像這捆柴一樣，不能被你們的敵人折斷;但如果你們自行*，你們就將和這些散柴一般，不堪一折了。”

Monkeys fishing month
One day,a little monkey is playing by the well.
He looks in the well and shouts :
“Oh!My god!The moon has fallen into the well!”
An older monkeys runs over, takes a look,and says,
“Goodness me!The moon is really in the water!”
And olderly monkey comes over.
He is very surprised as well and cries out:
“The moon is in the well.”
A group of monkeys run over to the well .
They look at the moon in the well and shout:
“The moon did fall into the well!Come on!Let’get it out!”
Then,the oldest monkey hangs on the tree up side down ,with his feet on the branch .
And he pulls the next monkey’s feet with his hands.
All the other monkeys follow his suit,
And they join each other one by one down to the moon in the well.
Just before they reach the moon,the oldest monkey raises his head and
happens to see the moon in the sky,
He yells excitedly “Don’t be so foolish!The moon is still in the sky!”
猴子撈月
一天，有隻小猴子在井邊玩兒。
它往井裏一瞧，高喊道： 噢!我的天!月亮掉到井裏頭啦!
一隻大猴子跑來一看，說，
“糟啦!月亮掉在井裏頭啦!” 老猴子也跑過來。
他也非常驚奇，喊道：
“糟了，月亮掉在井裏頭了!” 一羣猴子跑到井邊來，
他們看到井裏的月亮，喊道：
月亮掉在井裏頭啦!快來!讓我們把它撈起來
然後，老猴子倒掛在大樹上， 拉住大猴子的腳，
其他的猴子一個個跟着， 它們一隻連着一隻直到井裏。
它興奮地大叫：“別蠢了!月亮還好好地掛在天上呢!”
正好他們摸到月亮的時候，老猴子擡頭髮現月亮掛在天上呢
