A Wall Street fund manager is suing his poker player ex-wife in an attempt to take ownership of part of her $1 million shoe collection.

Daniel Shak claims that his former wife, Beth, concealed her 1,200 pairs of shoes in a "secret room" in their New York apartment that he only learned of after their divorce.

Around 700 of the pairs are said to be Christian Louboutins, the famous red-heeled designer shoes worth up to $4,000 a pair. Such is Mrs Shak's devotion to the label she has a tattoo of a high-heeled shoe and described the French designer's work as "fine art".

Mrs Shak's most expensive footwear is a pair of cowboy boots once owned by Elizabeth Taylor and kept in a glass cabinet next to a photograph of the actress.

The enormous collection is now at the heart of a fresh suit filed by Mr Shak, who claims that it was kept hidden during their $3.25 million divorce proceedings in 2009.

A court document reads: ‘In the summer of 2011, "Daniel became aware that Beth owned and failed to disclose an extensive…collection of Christian Louboutin shoes…and other high-end designer shoes."

Mrs Shak, who plays World Series poker, said she was contesting the lawsuit and would "fight him all the way" and that it was "ludicrous" to claim that she had hidden the collection.
