other的用法
other的意思是：其他的,形容詞,做定語修飾名詞,放在名詞前,定語就是用來限定限制那個名詞
the other,可以作主語：其他的,另一個,也可以做定語放在名詞前,意思一樣,但是這幾個詞中凡是前面加定冠詞the的都是有範圍的,比如那羣人中等等.主要詞組: other 就是：一個……另一個……的意思,舉個例子：
One of them is blue,the other ones are purple. 它們的其中一個是藍色的,其他的是紫色的.
這裏the other作的是定語修飾後面的ones,如果把ones去掉也成立,the other作這個分句的主語,表示前句them中除了前面的one以外其他的那些
用the others就是省略了後面的名詞複數,the other則後面還需要加名詞,用法方面除了這一點和the other是一樣的例如： One of the children likes reading,the others like singing. 後句可替換爲the other students like singing.
這些孩子們中的一個喜歡閱讀,其他的喜歡唱歌.
some……,other(s)……the other(s)是個固定搭配,意思是有的……有的……還有的……
是泛指,屬於沒有範圍,比如：Some children likeXX,others/other students likeXX,the others/the other students likeXX.有的學生喜歡XX,有的學生喜歡XX,還有的學生喜歡XX.
some之類的詞也可以特指也就是有範圍,如果不做固定搭配用,又有範圍,一般就用some……,the other(s)…… 比如 Some of them is red,the others are black.不翻譯了
其實other跟others之間,the other和the others之間區別是一樣的,加S的都是省略了後面的名詞複數,完全可以通過加不加名詞複數替換,除非the other是之一指的是一個單數.
但是要注意的是如果the前面有形容詞性物主代詞(my,your,his,her,its,ours,theirs就是"某某的"的意思,形容詞,同上作定語修飾名詞)就要略去the因爲形容詞性物主代詞已經限定了一個範圍了不用再特指,這一點在所有句中都一樣,比如：One of my friends likes singing and my other friends all like dancing.我的朋友其中一個喜歡唱歌,我其他的朋友都喜歡跳舞.
不過other和others與加the的兩個區別是用在沒有特指範圍也就是泛指的句子裏,就是因爲沒有範圍不是特指所以other一定後加名詞複數,關於具體什麼是泛指前面解釋過,the other是特指就單複數都有可能了,但the others省略的肯定是名詞複數r和others形容詞性作定語時含義都是一樣的,就是加s的省略了個名詞複數.另外others可以作名詞表示他人.例如：
We should respect others.我們應該尊重他人.
another也作形容詞,用法同上,意思是另一個,再一個,又一個,後面加名詞單數,還可以作代詞,實際意義上代詞也算是名詞,代詞就是用來指代的詞,比如你我他它她.
例如：He drank another glass of beer. 他又喝了一杯啤酒.
That's another matter. 那是另外一回事.
當代詞例如：I don't like this one, please show me another. 我不喜歡這個,請給我另一個.
補充幾個跟other有關的詞組
any other性質同上也是形容詞作定語,但後只能加名詞單數,意思是“任何其他的”
He is taller than any other boy of the class.他比班上任何一個男生都高.
這個情況下也就是比較級+than+any other+可數名詞單數可以表示最高級的意思,這個詞組是用於主語和與之比較的名詞是在同一範圍內所以才能說是任何其他的,比如說：
Chongqing is bigger than any other city in China.重慶比中國任何其他的城市都大.
如果是不同範圍就直接用any表示任何的,後面可單可復,比如：
Chongqing is bigger than any city/cities in Japan.重慶比日本的任何城市都大.
some other加複數,表示“一些其他的……”,例如：
There are some other things in the shop.
店裏(還)有一些其他的東西.
each other ≈one another 互相,彼此
約等於的原因是one another是特別用於三者或以上之間的互相,例如：
Jerry and Sally often help each other. J和S經常互相幫助.
