The Lamp
If I can bear your love like a lamp before me,
When I go down the long steep Road of Darkness,
I shall not fear the everlasting shadows,
Nor cry in terror．
If I can find out God, then I shall find Him；
If none can find Him, then I shall sleep soundly,
Knowing how well on earth your love sufficed me,
A lamp in darkness．
明燈
人生的道路漫漫，
多少險阻艱難；
我不怕恐怖的前程，
又何懼永久的黑暗！
不因艱險而畏縮，
不爲恐怖而呼喊；
只要有你的愛拌着我，
那就是黑夜中的明燈一盞。
我的心已滿足，
我的心再無不安；
那怕上帝無處尋找，
那怕天國離我更遠。
薩拉•蒂斯代爾(Sara Teasdale1884—1933)美國女詩人 在戀人愛的明燈照耀之下,即使身處永久的黑暗之中,詩人也不因艱險而畏縮,不爲恐怖而呼喊；只要有愛長伴,即使遠離上帝與天國也心甘情願。對於篤信基督教 的女詩人來說,這已經是離經叛道的奇想了。
