美國科研人員開發應用翻譯嬰兒哭聲大綱

Babies don't come with a manual, but a new app is helping to take some of the guesswork out of their cries.

The app is the brainchild of a doctor at the UCLA along with a team of volunteers.

Known as ChatterBaby, the free app was initially created to help deaf parents figure out what their child needs.

But even people with full hearing have trouble differentiating between whether junior's hungry, fussy or in pain.

The team developed an algorithm that identified the characteristics of each type of cry, like changes in pitch, frequency, pauses. Using this information, the algorithms nearly correctly identified features of cries.
該研究小組研發出一種算法，可以識別出每種哭聲的特徵，如音高、頻率、停頓等方面的變化。通過這些信息，算法基本能準確地分辨嬰兒啼哭的特徵。

The creator hopes this app will also help users identify autism in their children earlier.
開發者希望此應用也能夠幫助用戶更早地辨別出孩子是否患有自閉症。
