託福寫作如何考才能得高分
在託福寫作考試中，中國考生成績並不如人意。一是因爲表達方式不符合英語思維;二是因爲對西方的生活文化了解很少。那麼，如何在託福寫作中脫穎而出呢?如何寫成妙語連珠的佳作呢?下面我就爲大家揭開謎底。

經常看到學生的作文整體語言簡單，或者偏口語化，卻摻雜了數個SAT閱讀詞彙，讀來彆扭——也就是學生粗淺地知其大概中文意思，但根據中文意思再放到寫作裏頭便出現了不和諧，甚至是完全錯誤的用法。曾經還教到過一個學生，其獨立寫作開頭和結尾讓我覺得回到了歷史，不僅能看出是生搬硬套，而且比較彆扭。一問，果然兩段分別改自莎士比亞《暴風雨》選段及英譯荷馬史詩。其實，該生的語言天賦和功底都很好，但在追求高分的過程中走入了誤區。一個是語言風格上的混合錯誤：正式語言與非正式語言反差過大，現代英語中摻雜古英語或舊式英語;另一個是詞語搭配錯誤。這亦是中國學生普遍的問題所在。
我們一定要注意到，託福寫作是應用寫作(practical writing)，非創造性寫作(creative writing)，即考察學生的語言表述能力，而不是文學創作能力。無論是綜合寫作還是獨立寫作，考生追求的基本目標是把想說的意思用書面英語表達清楚，讓閱卷人讀懂和明白。從語言角度來說，有兩大標準，即準確性和多樣化。能夠達到詞詞準確，又使用到不同的詞句來表達相同、相似的意思，從語言角度來說已經符合托福考試的高分要求。
先來說說準確性。譬如這樣一個句子：My writing ability increased by reading many books. 拆開來看，每個英文單詞對應的中文意思是對的。但存在一個問題，ability和increase是不搭配的。任何一個單詞，都不能單純地說用得好不好。語言是講究搭配的，簡單常見的詞只要搭配合適，放置合適的語境，依然可以鍛造完美的句子。這個道理和穿衣混搭是一樣的。穿着漂亮不在於單品是如何大牌如何昂貴，而在於款式質地的和諧，以及最後的上身效果。在這個句子中，increase表示增加的意思，主要表示數量的增加。儘管有時也能表示程度的增進，但這裏和ability的搭配是不正確的。一般我們說develop one's ability，也可以說improve one's ability. 因此，這句話得修改成My writing ability developed by reading many books. 當然還可以修改得更地道一些。後半句想表達“閱讀”，學生一般的習慣是把“讀”和“書”全部翻譯出來。注意，寫作是表達，不是翻譯。這麼寫固然是對的，還不夠理想。我們進一步把句子修改成My writing ability developed by reading much. 從表達效果來講，已經“達”了，考生想表述的意思和閱卷人讀到的意思完全吻合。當然句子可以再繼續修改得更加豪華，本文暫不贅述。
那麼，詞語的搭配如何檢驗呢?在各種班型的培訓課程中，老師固然會提到一些典型搭配。但更爲重要的是考生自己掌握檢驗的方法。我個人比較推薦Oxford Learner's English Collocation Dictionary(《牛津學生英語搭配詞典》)，其中的語料來源和實用性都比較好。
關於多樣化，舉個最普遍的例子：“more and more”這個短語幾乎是每個中國學生都使用過的短語。我看到過太多學生的獨立寫作文章，三四百字的短文裏出現了四五次。有學生在開頭段便使用了三次。學生重複使用該短語是可以理解的，一個是熟悉，再來字數似乎上去了。其實，稍加思考便知道，如此做法反而在文章開頭便向閱卷人暴露了弱處。因此這種不顧語言質量的“湊字數”方法是不可取的。
如何解決語言單一的問題?平日積累是必不可少的。而積累的最好方法就是閱讀和仿寫。閱讀的材料有幾大注意點：一、選擇現代英語，簡而言之，選擇至少五十年以內的材料。讀莎翁很好，但忌諱盲目模仿。二、題材上儘量選擇essay(散文、評論性文章、短文尤佳)。不少學生喜歡看Twilight之類的的幻想小說，這對培養閱讀興趣和語感很好，但對託福寫作的幫助不直接。Twilight之類屬於創造性寫作，即文學寫作，其語境和托福考試需要的議論文有很大差別，即便學到很炫的詞句，但恐無用武之地。
託福寫作怎麼簡化內容
第一種方法是用一個單詞代替一組意義相同的單詞，比如：
①用forget(忘記)代替do not remember(沒有記住)
②用ignore(忽視)代替do not pay attention to(不注意)
③用now(現在)代替at this point in time(此時此刻)
④用because(由於)代替due to the fact that(鑑於下列事實)
第二種方法是省略同義詞或近義詞，比如在下面例句中，形容詞important(重要的)和significant(有重要意義的)，就是兩個同義詞(也可以說是近義詞)，我們可以省略important，只保留significant。
①The government project is important and significant.(這項政府計劃是重要的，有重要意義。)
②The government project is significant.(這項政府計劃有重要意義。)
第三種方法是在不改變句子含義的前提下，省略所有可以省略的單詞，比如在下面例句中，the cover of the book (書的封面)可以省略成the book cover，is red in color(是紅色的)可以省略成is red。
①The cover of the book is red in color.(書的封面是紅色的)
②The book cover is red.(書的封面是紅色的)
最後我們把這三種方法結合起來，將一個冗長、繞嘴的句子，改寫成一個簡短、易懂的句子。
①University malls must be accessible and free from congestion in order that students, faculty and employees may have unobstructed passage through those areas of the campus.(校內道路必須是便於通行的，不擁堵的，以便讓學生、教師和職員能夠無阻礙地通過，到達校園的各處。)
②University malls must be free enough from congestion to allow people to walk through easily.(校內道路不應當擁堵，以便人們順利通行。)

A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.

New factories often bring many good things to a community, such as jobs and increased prosperity. However, in my opinion, the benefits of having a factory are outweighed by the risks. That is why I oppose the plan to build a factory near my community.
I believe that this city would be harmed by a large factory. In particular, a factory would destroy the quality of the air and water in town. Factories bring smog and pollution. In the long run, the environment will be hurt and people's health will be affected. Having a factory is not worth that rise.
Of course, more jobs will be created by the factory. Our population will grow. To accommodate more workers, more homes and stores will be needed. Do we really want this much growth, so fast? If our town is going in growth, I would prefer slow growth with good planning. I don't want to see rows of cheaply constructed townhouses. Our quality of life must be considered.
I believe that this growth will change our city too much. I love my hometown because it is a safe, small town. It is also easy to travel here. If we must expand to hold new citizens, the small-town feel will be gone. I mould miss that greatly.
A factory would be helpful in some ways. However, I feel that the dangers are greater than the benefits. I cannot support a plan to build a factory here, and hope that others feel the same way.
