英文也能“疊字”？超萌表達來襲！
今天來看妙趣橫生的疊聲詞。
1. chit-chat
意思是“聊天，閒談，閒聊”。
"What did you talk about?" "Oh, just chit-chat."
“你們在說什麼？”“噢，閒聊而已。”
2. flip-flop
本意是人字拖鞋，另外，還有名詞和動詞表達，形容徹底改變計劃。
The president's flip-flops on taxes made him appear indecisive.
總統在稅收問題上的決定臨場變卦使他看起來有些優柔寡斷。
He seemed so sure of his decision, how could he flip-flop so dramatically now?
他似乎對自己的決定非常肯定，現在怎麼會戲劇性地改變立場呢？
3. wishy-washy
這個表達是形容詞，意思都不太好“顏色淺的；軟弱無力的；優柔寡斷的；不堅定的；無特色的”。
The candidate gave a few unsatisfactory wishy-washy answers.
候選人的回答軟弱無力，不能令人滿意。
4. shilly-shally
這個詞是動詞，表示“動搖不定；猶豫不決”。例句：
Stop shilly-shallying and make a decision now!
別再猶豫了，現在就作決定吧！
5. yada yada yada
大概就是“此處省略一萬字”吧，意思是“之類的，等等”，用於表示無聊的講話。
His new girlfriend is attractive, funny, smart, yada yada yada.
他的新女友有魅力、有趣、聰明，等等等等。
如果是正式語境裏表示“之類的”，可以說so on and so forth或者直接就是我們最常見的so on：等等schools, colleges, and so on學校、學院等等。
6. win-win
做形容詞，表示“雙贏的”：
Flexible working hours are a win-win situation for employers and employees.
靈活的工作時間對於僱主和僱員來說是雙贏的。
反義詞就是lose-lose，意思是“對各方都不好的”，比如：
He said that going ahead with the strike would be a lose-lose situation for all concerned.
他說如果罷工舉行的話，對各方來說都無益處。
也可以是名詞，win-win，形容雙贏的結果，皆大歡喜的結果。
7. chit-chat
是名詞，形容“閒聊；閒言碎語”，和gossip意思差不多：
I don't like all this idle gossip.
我討厭這些無聊的流言蜚語。
8. criss-cross
是動詞，形容（在…上）縱橫交錯，（在…上）交叉運動。
This area of the city is criss-crossed by railway lines.
該城市的這個地區鐵路線縱橫交錯。
9. knick-knack
通常是複數形式，可以說nick-nack。尤指房子裏的“小裝飾物，小擺設”。
The shelves were covered with ornaments and useless knick-knacks.
架子上滿是裝飾品和一些無用的小玩意兒。
10. nitty-gritty
形容“基本事實；本質”。
