無處不在的恐懼Phobia,看看你有幾個?(2)

今天在辦公室裏討論着“恐懼症”這個問題,英語君發現現在都市人不多不少都有一個或者多個恐懼症。那麼今天,英語君就根據身邊小夥伴們所說的,列出10個恐懼症,害怕之餘不要忘記記下“害怕“的各種表達喲。

6.恐高症acrophobia

e.g. Bill is acrophobic, so he avoided standing near the window of the conference room on the 80th floor of the skyscraper.

比爾怕高,所以在摩天大廈80樓的會議室,他儘量不往靠窗的地方站


has acrophobia and always becomes dizzy in a high-rise elevator.

她有恐高症,到了高樓的電梯裏就發暈。


had a self-confessed fear of heights, so we shouldn't have made her go up to the top.

她自己承認有恐高症,所以我們本不該讓她到頂上來。


7.小丑恐懼症Coulrophobia

e.g. French police have arrested several young people behaving violently dressed as clowns. And the protesters are beginning to resent and detest it.

法國警方逮捕數名有暴力行爲小丑打扮的年輕人。這也就導致了許多人開始憎惡它。


e.g. We all known clowns are meant to make us laugh, but for some unfortunate folks the sight of a guy in pajamas with big colored buttons and a painted face sends them running.

衆所周知小丑是用來逗樂的。但在有些人眼裏,身穿大鈕釦睡衣的花臉小丑很可怕。


resent : 動詞怨恨;憤恨;厭惡

resent that women control the satisfaction of their desires and that womenare fickle.

他們怨恨的是女人控制了對他們慾望的滿足以及女人的多變。


Detest:動詞 厭惡;憎恨

e.g. women detest this, some love it, and some hunger for it.

某些女性憎恨它,某些愛它,還有某些對它如飢似渴。


8.黑暗恐懼症achluophobia

e.g. The achluophobia is a common fear or phobia among children and, to a varying degree, of adults. Fear of the Dark is usually not fear of darkness itself, but fear of possible or imagined dangers concealed by darkness.

黑暗恐懼症是一種常見的害怕或者恐懼,常見於小孩以及對成年人有不同程度的影響。黑暗恐懼症通常並不是害怕黑暗的本身,而是對於隱藏在黑暗中的某些可能以及想象出來的危險。


e.g. Darkness give me the black eyes, by which I search for brightness.

因爲怕黑,孩子們害怕度過黑夜。


To arying degree:具有不同程度 ; 出不同程度 ; 產生不同程度

e.g.The Olympics maintained a religious theme from the beginning, varying in degreeover time.

奧運會保留了最初的宗教主題,但隨着時間的推移,發生了不同程度的變化。


9.幽閉恐懼症claustrophobia

e.g. The fear of being in an enclosed space and unable to escape is probably most often exemplified in the being-buried-alive movie scenario.

困在封閉空間無法逃離的感覺,就像在電影裏被活埋了一樣。


e.g. I hate lifts-they give me claustrophobia.

我討厭電梯使我有幽閉恐懼感。


e.g. His fellow classmates laughed at his claustrophobia and often threatened to lock him in his room.

他的同學因他患有幽閉恐怖症而嘲笑他,並且常常以單獨關他在房裏來嚇唬他。


e.g. He suffers from claustrophobia so he never travels on underground trains.

他有幽閉恐怖症,所以從來不乘坐地鐵。


threaten:威脅

e.g. ewcomers directly threaten the livelihood of the established workers.

新來的人直接威脅到原有工人的生計。


10.恐懼鏡子Spectrophobia

e.g. A spooky silhouette glimpsed out of the corner of your eye as you’re checking your hair will give anyone the creeps, but imagine being scared of even your own reflection.

如果在鏡子面前梳頭時突然瞥見陰森幽靈一閃而過,那你肯定會嚇破膽兒。但有人卻怕在鏡子裏看到自己。


e.g. Scared myself out lf a week's sleep when I looked in the mirror .

從鏡子裏一看,嚇得我一個星期都不敢睡覺了!


e.g. And she begins to plait her hair with shaking fingers, not daring to look in the glass.

她隨即用顫抖的手指編起辮子來,眼睛卻不敢對視鏡子。


Scare: 動詞驚嚇,名詞恐慌,形容詞駭人的

e.g. The prospect of failure scares me rigid.

失敗的可能嚇得我都僵了。


dare to: 敢於

e.g. If the enemy dare to invade us, we'll deal them head-on blows.

敵人膽敢進犯, 我們就給以迎頭痛擊。
