Neil is explaining in detail to Feifei how to do her own job. Learn a new word to describe when a man explains to a woman something in a way which suggests she's stupid.

尼爾正在給菲菲詳細解釋她的工作要如何做。今天我們來學習一個新詞，指男性認爲女性很笨，所以不斷向她解釋。

Neil: Hello and welcome to The English We Speak from BBC Learning English, I'm Neil and with me is Feifei.

Feifei: Hello.

菲菲：大家好。

Neil: Now Feifei, if you just put on your headphones you'll be able to hear what I'm saying.

尼爾：菲菲，你把耳機戴上就能聽見我說的話了。

Feifei: Yes, I know that.

菲菲：這個我知道。

Neil: And you need to push that thing there — we call it a fader — we push that up and speak into the microphone.

尼爾：你要推一下那個，我們稱之爲音量控制器，我們把它推上去，然後對着麥克風說話。

Feifei: Ah, yes Neil I already know that.

菲菲：好的，尼爾，這些我已經知道了。

Neil: You see, Feifei, you have to be careful not to be too close to the microphone when you speak, because the pressure of your breath will create this sound — we call that a 'pop' and the recording will sound bad and our listeners will complain.

尼爾：菲菲，你必須要小心，說話的時候不要離麥克風太近，因爲你呼吸的壓力會發出這種聲音，我們將其稱爲“爆裂聲”，這樣的話錄音聽起來會很不好，我們的聽衆也會抱怨的。

Feifei: Neil! I've been working in radio for over 10 years! I know how to use the studio! Stop mansplaining.

Neil: Feifei, I was only doing it to introduce that word — mansplaining. It's a new word. It's made up of two parts — 'man' and 'explaining'. Mansplaining is when a man explains something to a woman as if they are stupid or knows less about a subject simply because she is a woman.

尼爾：菲菲，我這麼做只是爲了介紹這個詞——男人說教。這是個新詞。這個詞由“男人”和“解釋”這兩部分構成。男人說教是說男性向女性解釋一些事情，就好像僅僅因爲她們是女性，她們就很笨，或者她們對於一件事情瞭解得更少一樣。
