香港立法會否決申辦2023年亞運會的撥款申請

HONG KONG- The Hong Kong Legislative Council (LegCo) Finance Committee voted down on Friday the government's request for allocating 6 billion HK dollars (about $0.77 billion) in funds to host the 2023 Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

香港立法會財委會週五否決了政府申辦2023年亞洲運動會的60億元撥款申請。

Speaking to the media after the committee's meeting, Secretary for Home Affairs Tsang Tak-sing expressed disappointment at the result.

民政事務局局長曾德成在會議結束後對媒體表示，他對投票結果表示失望。

He thanked the community, the sports sector, athletes and those concerned about the long-term development of Hong Kong who backed the bid proposal, urging them to be united in promoting sports and look to the future.

他感謝社會、體育部門、運動員以及那些關心香港長期發展的並支持提案的人。他呼籲他們團結起來，一起促進體育發展，共同謀劃未來。

Tsang said the government is determined to promote sport and has already set out a clear policy direction. It will continue to allocate resources according to pre-set policy goals in a step-by-step manner to enhance support for elite athletes and promote sport in the community.

曾德成說，政府決定促進體育發展，以及制定出明確的方針路線。香港政府將繼續根據之前設定的政策分配資源，逐步提高對高水平運動員的支持力度，促進整個社會體育水平的提高。
