部分否定、全部否定和雙重否定的翻譯
由於英語和漢語的語法習慣差異，含有否定意義詞的相關句型在翻譯和具體含義理解上是一大難點。下面小編就翻譯時比較常見的關於否定句的誤區來詳細解釋一下~
（一）部分否定和全部否定
部分否定：
當not出現在含有表示全部肯定的不定代詞（all, every-, both等）時，不管是之前還是之後，即表示整體中的一部分被否定。譯爲“並非一切⋯⋯都”或“並非都是”。
（1）三者或三者以上的部分否定，當not出現在含有表示全部肯定的不定代詞——all、every、everyone、everybody、everything的句子中，
如：
Not all birds can fly.／All birds can’t fly.
不是所有的鳥兒都能飛。
Not everyone thinks that the government is being particularly generous.
並非所有人都認爲政府特別慷慨。
All his haste was of no use.
他白忙了。
總括性副詞everywhere/wholly/always/altogether，這些詞和not連用時也表示部分否定。
Acid rain is not straightforwardly attributable to the burning of coal.
酸雨並非簡單地由燒煤造成。
（2）兩者的部分否定——由not 和both組成
Not both the artists have a keen eye for beauty. =both of the artists don’’t have a keen eye for beauty.
這兩位藝術家並非都有審美的眼光.（一定要記住是“並非都”，很容易出錯的！）
全部否定
（1）英語中表示三者以上的“全不”時，常用否定詞語no one、none、nothing、nobody、never、nowhere、not⋯any以及no+名詞等，表示全部否定。
No one knew how to treat this dreaded disease.
沒人知道如何治療這種可怕的疾病。
None of these people will admit responsibility for their actions.
這些人都不會願意爲自己的行爲負責。
（2）表示兩者的全部否定，用neither；either與not也表示全部否定。
Either of us isn’t a doctor．=Neither of us is a doctor.
我們兩個都不是醫生。
最後比較以下兩句：
Both of them are not scientists.
Neither of them is a scientist.
哪個是部分否定，哪個是全部否定呢？
（二）雙重否定
簡單來說，雙重否定就是在同一個簡單句裏出現兩次否定的句子。這種句子通常作爲考點出現在閱讀中，有時也會作翻譯的考點，其主要作用是：或加強語氣，或表示委婉的說法。因此，雙重否定句也就出現了兩種譯法：譯爲委婉的肯定句，或譯爲加強版的否定句。下面我們就來看看幾種常見的雙重否定句型來以及它們的譯法。
否定代詞(nothing,none,neither)+帶有否定前綴或後綴的詞
如：Nothing is impossible.一切皆有可能。這類句子通常譯爲肯定形式。
Nothing is changeless.
沒有什麼是一成不變的。（萬物皆在變化）
Nobody wasn’t invited to visit her new house.
每個人都受到了邀請來參觀她的新房子。
否定詞+without
The cleverest housewife can't cook a meal without rice.
巧婦難爲無米之炊。
否定詞+but，此時but 作關係代詞，意同於that not who not、which not，這種句子也譯爲肯定句。
There is no man but has his faults.
人皆有過。
而有時but在句中做連詞，也可以與前面的否定構成兩個否定，來表達一種肯定的意思。
如：
It never rains but it pours.
不雨則已，一雨傾盆。
I never see him but I think of his father.
我一見到他，就想起他的父親。
no(not)+帶有否定意義的詞(包括形容詞，副詞，動詞，名詞等)或帶否定前後綴的詞，
Please don’t be ignorant of the sympathy they offered.
請不要忽視了他們的好意。（ignorant是帶有否定意義的形容詞）
We will never forget the moment.
我們會永遠記得這一刻。（forget是帶有否定意義的動詞）
There is no doubt that I can finish the task within two hours.
毫無疑問，我能在兩個小時內完成這項任務。（doubt是帶有否定意義的名詞）
This activity is not meaningless.
這項活動不是沒有意義的。（或：這項活動是有意義的。）
否定詞+半否定詞
He showed no little interest in the new book.
他對這本新書表示極大的興趣。
He took no little pain over the job．
他在這件工作上費了很多力氣。
