撒謊不說lie，解僱不說fire！如何禮貌地說英語
口語中常常不拘泥於單一的詞彙，那爲什麼不學習一些禮貌的英語表達呢？這樣可以爲自己加分哦。
1. 撒謊不說lie
表達撒謊，可以用到economical with the truth這個短語，它的意思是“隱瞞真相；撒謊”。可以這麼理解：
economical表示“經濟的；省錢的；節約的”，對事實真相都很節約，也就是不完全說出真相的意思，這是一種幽默的表達。
He was being economical with the truth.
他的話與真相不符。
2. 去世不說die
其實關於死翹翹有很多表達，這裏就來盤點一下：
go west／go to heaven
去西天/上天堂
gone for a Burton/burton
喪命/失蹤
breathe your last
嚥氣，死
have found rest
得到安息
give up the ghost
斷氣
snuff it
死亡，斷氣
3. 廁所不說toilet
其實關於廁所或者衛生間也很很多表達，比如toilet，lavatory，rest room。如果要禮貌得體的表達，可以這麼說：
the little boy's room
男衛生間
ladies' room
女衛生間，女洗手間
4. 失業不說unemployed
提到失業，很多人會想到out of work或者unemployed，但是如果要委婉一點，你可以用到between jobs，“處於待業中”。
Tom always seems to be between jobs.
湯姆好像一直都處於失業狀態。
5. 性不說sex
當父母向小孩子進行性啓蒙教育的生活，常常會用到the birds and the bees來指代性的基本知識。
大家都知道，蜜蜂（bees）攜帶花粉使花朵受精，這可以理解成雄性受精。鳥類（birds）產蛋，這可以比喻爲女性排卵。
She's only six, but she already knows about the birds and the bees.
她雖然只有6歲，卻已經懂得性方面的基本知識。
6. 解僱不說fire
解僱裁員不容易，我們可以說成let someone go。
We had to let fourteen employees go last month.
上個月我們不得不解僱了十四名員工。
6. 無家可歸不說homeless
無家可歸，只得流落街頭，所以可以用on the streets形容流浪在街頭的人。
Some of these people have been living on the streets for years.
這些人中有一些已經流落街頭好幾年了。
7. 瘋狂不說crazy
這個表達不是很常見：a few sandwiches short of a picnic。對很多人來說，野餐必備三明治，要是少了三明治簡直就是瘋狂的舉動。
He's obviously a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic!
他很明顯就是個腦袋有問題的白癡！
8. 殺不說kill
殘酷地射殺動物是put animals down。put sth to sleep就是讓（生病或很老的動物）無痛苦地死去，也就是我們所說的“安樂死”。
