這部小說是以歷史事實爲根據的。意爲“以……爲基礎”，其被動語態爲be based on.需要注意的是，based on既可爲被動語態，也可用作形容詞，用於修飾名詞或代名詞。如果要修飾動詞，則需要用到on the basis of。來比較一下：They're making judgments based on a narrowly focused vision of the world. Make judgement-做判斷，narrowly-狹隘的，vision of the world-世界觀。
