中國首屆大熊貓節將於汶川舉辦
The first Giant Panda Festival will be held in Wenchuan, Sichuan province from Oct. 18 to 20, in an effort to promote protection of the national icon and stimulate the local economy.
10月18日至20日，第一屆大熊貓節將在四川省汶川縣舉行，以此來努力推進國家象徵的保護工作，並刺激當地經濟的發展。"Care for panda's homeland, advance toward joint growth" is the theme for this year's panda festival.
今年熊貓節的主題是"心泊熊貓家園、邁向共生成長"。The festival aims to promote green development and the protection of giant pandas, as well as to create a "panda brand" for local tourism, which will advance the economic, social and cultural development of Wenchuan, the local government explained at a press release in Chengdu on Sept. 29.
9月29日，當地政府在成都的一次新聞發佈會上解釋道，該節日旨在促進綠色發展，保護大熊貓，併爲當地的旅遊業打造一個"熊貓品牌"，這將推動汶川的經濟、社會和文化發展。
During the festival, exhibitions will be held to showcase achievements in panda protection made by Wolong National Natural Reserve.
在節日期間，將舉辦相關展覽以展示臥龍國家級自然保護區在大熊貓保護方面取得的成果。Several international conferences will also be arranged to discuss the training of zoo pandas and the protection of pandas' natural habitats.
一些國際會議也會將被安排其中，來討論動物園大熊貓的訓練和大熊貓自然棲息地的保護等議題。After the major earthquake in Wenchuan in 2008, local government put a great deal of effort into the restoration of the panda protection center and habitat.
在2008年汶川大地震之後，當地政府投入大量精力到大熊貓保護中心和棲息地的恢復重建工作中。Currently, there are two natural reserves and a scenic zone in Wenchuan that stretch across 148,000 hectares and house 165 wild giant pandas.
目前，汶川縣有兩個自然保護區和一個景區，佔地148,000公頃，是165只野生大熊貓的家園。
