There has been an explosion close to the Chinese embassy in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek, reports say, but casualties are still unclear.

Details are still emerging but Russia’s Interfax news agency quoted local officials as saying at least one person was killed.

A car rammed the gates of the embassy and exploded in front of the ambassador’s residence, officials say.

Kyrgyz security officials quoted by the local AKIpress news agency described the blast as a terrorist also quoted the chief of security at the Chinese embassy as saying no staff there had been injured.
