託福口語中， 綜合口語不同於雅思口語，綜合口語不光要考察考生的口語能力，還要考察閱讀和聽力的能力。
綜合口語任務部分涉及第三題到第六題，從考試形式來說，第三題和第四題包含了閱讀和聽力的素材，需要考生們先從中獲取信息，再用自己的話複述一遍。而第五題和第六題只包含聽力素材，同樣需要考生們從中獲取信息，再用自己的話複述。其中第三題和第四題會有30秒的準備時間和60秒的答題時間，而第五題和第六題會有20秒的準備時間和60秒的答題時間。
那麼，怎麼能夠從繁瑣的步驟中取勝呢?答案兩個字：複述。
要把複述做好，最常用的是以下三種方法。
1.釋義、意譯(Paraphrasing)
Paraphrase (A paraphrase of something written or spoken is the same thing expressed in a different way.) 就是用你所知道的，或者對你來說較容易的詞彙、短語、以及語去替換意思相近的語言。
2.概述(Summarizing)
在託福口語考試中，最常用的方法是概述。只要聽出來具體聽力內容中發生了什麼事，用自己的話進行概述。當然，口語需要在60秒之內有效的說完， 這個時候，就需要注意口語時間的分配了。
往往我們在陳述好聽力以外的概述的用時會太長，這部分我們一定要控制在25秒左右，或是30秒以內。給聽力部分複述留下充足的時間進行總結概述，要說出事情的起因-經過-結果。
3.間接轉述(Indirect Speech)
針對特定問題，用自己的話把讀到、聽到的對話內容或演講內容再重複出來。需要考生首先要聽得懂，其次在此基礎上進行加工處理，變爲自己的語言再將它準確陳述出來。
舉個例子：
聽力音頻中說：
this spines, unlike the porcupine’s, are hard to remove. So the attacking animals suffers twice- when they get stuck with the spine and when they try to remove them.
參考答案：
the spines are difficult to remove, so the animal suffer again later when extracting them.
講解點1：
this spines, unlike the porcupine’s, are hard to remove…. 這句話中的主要信息點就是 this spines are hard to remove. , 然而插入語，unlike the porcupine’s貌似並沒有什麼卵用，所以我們這裏可以拋棄它， 另外 hard= difficult (這裏就是paraphrasing啦) 所以我們可以說： the spines are difficult to remove.
講解點2：
原文： So the attacking animals suffers twice- when they get stuck with the spine and when they try to remove them.
原文裏面句子的主幹是：animals/ suffers/ twice / get stuck with / remove.那麼，這裏的 twice的解釋是第一次發生後，然後隨後又發生;所以我們經過轉述成suffer again later.
get stuck in 這句話中，我們理解爲其實這個刺已經扎進去了，所以隨後在動詞上面可以做一些手腳，比如轉述。比如 remove= extract
當我們把句子裏面最精華的部分提出出來，所以我們可以得到: the spines are difficult to remove, so the animal suffer again later when extracting them.
