茶話會第449期:損失全部錢財
今天我們要學習的口語表達都和shirt（襯衫）有關。
1. Keep your shirt on! It was only a joke.
Keep your shirt on! This idiom is used to tell someone to calm down. 這個俚語用來表示讓別人冷靜、沉住氣。所以例句的意思是別生氣！開個玩笑而已。再比如：I advise you to keep your shirt on no matter what he says. No matter就是“不管的”所以。不管他說什麼，我勸你都不要發脾氣。
2. If you have a bad stock, you can Lose your shirt.
Stock是“股票”的意思，這句話是說：如果你買錯股票，你可能會傾家蕩產。句子中用到的短語是Lose your shirt。If someone loses their shirt, they lose all their money through a bad investment, gambling, etc.也就是說如果說一個人把他們的shirt襯衫給丟了，那麼在英文中是指他們損失了大量錢財，尤其是通過投資、賭博之類損失的。
3. Simply don't blame me if you lose your shirt with that gamble.
這句話一聽就是一句勸告：如果因爲賭博，你失去了全部財產，可不要blame me，不要怪我。He is ready to give the shirt off his back to his best friend. Give the shirt off his back字面上來解釋就是把他的襯衣從背上脫下來給你。If you would give the shirt off your back, you would do anything to help, no matter what the personal sacrifice. 要是你肯把襯衣脫下來的話，那就是無論個人犧牲，都願意爲了幫助別人去做一切。所以就是說：他準備把一切都給他最好的朋友。He is ready to give the shirt off his back to his best friend.再比如：He is always ready to give the shirt off his back to anyone who is in trouble.對於in trouble在困難中的人，他總是傾囊相助。
