He told a story to point his advice. 他講了一個故事, 以增強他的忠告的力量。
Point: n. 要點，論點，尖端；尖兒；小數點；(某一)時刻；(某一)地點；分數，目的，意圖；
We agreed at the price of USD4.5 per unit. 我們達成價格一致，每臺4.5美元。
My score is 98 points. 我得了98分。
His remarks lack point. 他的言詞缺乏要點。
If you have a definite purpose in mind, get to the point promptly. 如果你心裏有明確的意圖, 就乾脆說出來。
以下這幾句用得很多：
I don't see your point. 我不明白你的意思。
Mr. Tony, may I make a point? 託尼先生，我可以說明一下我的看法嗎？
You' ve got a point. 你說得有道理。/你說到點子上了。
What' s the point? 什麼意思？/這有什麼意義?
From my point of view：就我個人的觀點來說，依我看……
From my point of view, women should stay at home. 依我看，婦女應該待在家裏。
From my point of view, teachers are not well paid obviously. 依我看，顯然教師們薪水不高。
turning point: 轉折點
You are well aware that a merger is a major turning point. 你很清楚合併是一個重要的轉折點。
Sorry, I don' t see your point. What' s the point of arguing it? From my point of view, men should take the responsibility to support the family, and women just stay at home and take care of their husbands and kids. 對不起，我沒明白你的意思。這樣爭論下去有何意義嗎？依我看，男人就該承擔起養家的責任，女人嘛就呆在家裏照顧她們的丈夫和孩子。
