1. get one’s shirt off

釋義 To make someone angry. (激怒某人,惹怒某人)

e.g. My father isn't in a good mood, don't get his shirt off.

我父親的心情不好,不要激怒他。

e.g. Some men lashed at Mary’s sisiter atthe evening party, which really get her shirt off.

有人在晚會上抨擊瑪麗的妹妹,這可把瑪麗惹火了。

e.g. A customer may get an employee’s shirt off and creates conflict, which makes the customer write to complain.

一位客戶也許惹怒一名僱員而產生矛盾,這使得此客戶寫信投訴。

2. against the grain

釋義:running counter to one's feelings or ideas (與某人的性格、感情,願望或想法等)格格不入或相悖;背道而馳

用法:這是個副詞短語,它通常與go,run連用,即:go against the grain,run against the grain。

e.g. It really goes against the grain to have to go into the office at weekends.

我真不願意週末還要上班。

e.g. Staying in bed may go against the grain but that's what you must do if you want to get better.

也許你不願意臥牀,但是你要想病情好轉,你必須臥牀。

e.g. Mrs. White is a gentle and warm-hearted woman. It goes against the grain to slander anybody.

e.g. A: Why did you divorce John? I thought you were getting along with each other very well.
