中國倫理學會慈孝專業文化委員會計劃用五年時間，在全國培養百萬4至6歲的中華小孝子，並倡議天下父母要從小培養孩子有孝心，爲孩子做孝道榜樣。教育工作者認爲，4-6歲是培養孩子孝心的最佳時期。

The special committee of filial piety under the China National Association for Ethical Studies announced on Sunday that it aims to help 1 million children between the ages of 4 and 6 learn about filial piety, which is deeply rooted in China's traditional culture. 中國倫理學會慈孝專業文化委員會週日宣佈將致力於幫助100萬年齡在4歲到6歲之間的兒童學習中國傳統文化中的孝道。

filial piety就是“孝道”，由儒家創始人孔子提出，並提倡，filial piety is one of the virtues to be held above all else（百善孝爲先），強調the responsibility to care for, respect, and obey parents（照顧、尊敬並順從父母之責）。這個百萬小孝子工程計劃培養出100萬名filial children（孝子），儘管original intention（初衷）很好，但100天的培訓項目是否真能培養出孝子，就不得而知了。

近年來，中國傳統文化日益受到重視和發揚，例如讓學生穿上traditional Han costumes（漢服），舉行coming-of-age ceremony（成人禮），給入學的孩子舉行first writing ceremony（開筆禮）等。
