歡迎大家再次做客“布朗尼加分”口語課堂。我是rose, 今天要爲大家講的是一個關於“老當益壯”的故事。如果您對健身感興趣，其中的一些表達法也許用得上。 
Ed lives in a nursing home in Boston with other elderly people. Ed is a senior citizen, 91 years old.
When Ed was 84 years old, a doctor came to the nursing home. She saw that Ed was out of shape and his body was weak. She told him to exercise and get in shape. So Ed started going to the exercise center to pump iron. He worked out for seven years, day in and day out.
Now Ed has big muscles, and his stomach is as flat as a pancake. He feels like a million dollars. 8His family and friends are surprised. They can not believe their eyes. Now Ed, at 91, is as fit as a fiddle!
senior citizen, senior意爲“地位高的；年長的”，英語中能夠被稱爲senior citizen的人，年齡都在65以上。
雖然後來通過健身Ed擁有了健壯的體魄，但是健身前，他一樣是，out of shape的。Shape, 外形,狀況，out of shape, 不在狀態上，也就是“身體狀況不佳”。比如：I get tired easily. I must be out of shape. 我很容易疲倦,一定是身體有毛病。
get in shape again. 也就是“恢復健康，恢復體形”的意思。例如：
Henry is heavy. He should get in shape again. 亨利長得胖，他應該恢復體型。
幫助Ed get in shape的一種鍛鍊方式叫做pump iron。Pump 有打氣，泵水的意思，iron 鐵
Pump iron: lift weights。
Day in and day out, 就相當於“regularly; all the time”。
his stomach is as flat as a pancake. Flat,平坦的，pancake, 薄煎餅。以80多歲高齡的老人老說，肚子平坦的跟長薄煎餅，也就是very very flat的狀態，真是很不容易了。收到這樣的成效，也就難怪Ed會feels like a million dollars了。也就是feel very healthy and happy。 再比如：B: Well, I quit smoking three months ago. I thought I was going to be miserable, but to be honest, I feel like a million (dollars).
嗯,我三個月前戒菸了。本來以爲我會很慘的。但說真的,我感覺好棒!
持之以恆的鍛鍊讓現年91歲的Ed as fit as a fiddle。這個習語表達的是“healthy and physically fit” 非常健康, 精神很好的意思。
