Expressing Affirmation

Tracy: Have you heard anything yet? Did Lily get the top mark on the last exam?
Peter: I have no idea. Is that what you heard?
Tracy: It looks like it from that big smile on her face.
Peter: Yeah. It seems that you're right. She smiles a lot when she knows she's done well.
Tracy: She has earned it though. She works really hard and studies a lot every day.
Peter: I guess it's true what they say. There is no substitute for hard work.
Tracy: You have a point here. But I can't help but think luck is important too. You know, if you don't know the right people,
sometimes it can be hard to get the right job.

It was a hard job; he took it though.(這是份苦差事,可他還是接受了。)Two heart attacks in a year. It hasn't stopped him smoking, though.(他一年犯了兩次心臟病。 It sounds like a lot of fun.
2.“can't help but do sth.”
Lee could not help but agree with her.(李忍不住同意了她的觀點。)She couldn't help it if she was
being irrational.(如果她當時不理智,她就控制不住自己。)-Stop biting your nails. I can’t help it.(-別咬指甲了。

"Yes" or "No"

“Did you kill the hostess?”(你殺害了女房東嗎?)
“No.”(沒殺。)
“So you didn't kill the hostess?”(那麼就是說你沒殺女房東?)
Did you kill the hostess?
No. ( I didn't kill the hostess. )
So you didn't kill the hostess?
No. ( I didn't kill the hostess.
